Description
Light, fluffy, and perfectly crispy, these classic waffles are a breakfast favorite. Serve with syrup, fresh fruits, or whipped cream for a delicious treat.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 3/4 cups milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil or melted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your waffle iron according to manufacturer instructions.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, beat the eggs and then add the milk, vegetable oil (or melted butter), and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix; it’s okay if there are a few lumps.
- Spray the preheated waffle iron with non-stick cooking spray.
- Pour the appropriate amount of batter onto the waffle iron, close the lid, and cook until golden brown, usually 5-7 minutes.
- Carefully remove the waffle and repeat with the remaining batter.
- Serve warm with your favorite toppings.
Notes
- For extra crispy waffles, allow the waffles to cool on a wire rack instead of stacking them.
- You can add chocolate chips, blueberries, or nuts to the batter for added flavor.
- These waffles freeze well; just reheat in a toaster or oven when ready to serve.
