Waffles: 5 Steps to Irresistibly Crispy Perfection

  • Author: ushinzomr

Description

Deliciously crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, these classic waffles are perfect for breakfast or brunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 3/4 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat the eggs and then whisk in the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir just until combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are okay.
  5. Lightly grease the waffle iron with cooking spray or brush with oil.
  6. Pour the recommended amount of batter onto the preheated waffle iron and close the lid.
  7. Cook according to the manufacturer’s instructions, usually about 5 minutes, until the waffles are golden brown.
  8. Carefully remove the waffles and serve immediately with your favorite toppings.

Notes

  • For extra crispy waffles, let the batter rest for 5-10 minutes before cooking.
  • Feel free to add mix-ins like chocolate chips, blueberries, or nuts to the batter for added flavor.
  • Leftover waffles can be frozen and reheated in a toaster for a quick breakfast.
