Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
  • Edible flowers for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Mix well.
  3. Add the softened butter, milk, eggs, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed until smooth and well combined, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Divide the batter evenly between the two prepared cake pans. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  5. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
  6. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream with the powdered sugar until soft peaks form. Gently fold in the mascarpone cheese until smooth.
  7. Once the cakes are completely cooled, spread a layer of the mascarpone mixture on top of one cake layer. Layer half of the sliced strawberries over the cream.
  8. Place the second cake layer on top and repeat the process with the remaining mascarpone mixture and strawberries.
  9. Decorate the top of the cake with edible flowers for a beautiful presentation. Serve immediately or refrigerate until ready to serve.

Notes

  • Choose a variety of edible flowers that are safe for consumption and complement the flavors of the cake.
  • For an extra touch, drizzle some strawberry sauce over the cake before serving.
