A delicious and easy-to-make Strawberry Galette served with creamy vanilla ice cream. Perfect for a summer dessert!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and diced
- 3 to 4 tablespoons ice water
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and halved
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar (for strawberries)
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Vanilla ice cream (for serving)
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and sugar. Add the diced butter and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the ice water, one tablespoon at a time, until the dough comes together. Shape into a disk, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In another bowl, combine the strawberries, cornstarch, lemon juice, and sugar. Toss until the strawberries are well coated.
- On a floured surface, roll out the chilled dough into a 12-inch circle. Transfer to a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Spoon the strawberry mixture onto the center of the dough, leaving a 2-inch border. Fold the edges of the dough over the strawberries, pleating as necessary.
- Brush the dough with the beaten egg and sprinkle with sugar.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the strawberries are bubbly.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Notes
- For best results, use fresh strawberries.
- You can substitute other berries like blueberries or raspberries if desired.
- Serve warm with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream for an indulgent treat.
