- 1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend)
- 4 hamburger buns
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 slices of cheese (American or cheddar)
- Lettuce, tomato, and onion for topping
- Ketchup and mustard for serving
Instructions
- Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
- Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions and form them into loose balls.
- Once the grill is hot, place the meat balls on the grill or skillet and immediately smash them down with a spatula to about 1/2 inch thick.
- Season the patties with salt and pepper.
- Cook for about 3-4 minutes until a crust forms on the bottom.
- Flip the patties and immediately place a slice of cheese on each one.
- Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted and the burger is cooked to your desired doneness.
- Toast the hamburger buns on the grill for a minute or two until golden brown.
- Assemble the burgers with lettuce, tomato, onion, and your favorite condiments.
Notes
- For extra flavor, consider adding garlic powder or onion powder to the beef before cooking.
