Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 4 cups cooked rice
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • Sesame seeds for garnish
  • Ponzu sauce for drizzling

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, beaten egg, and cold water until just combined.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium-high heat.
  3. Dip the shrimp into the batter, allowing excess to drip off, and carefully place them in the hot oil.
  4. Fry the shrimp until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  5. In serving bowls, divide the cooked rice and top with the crispy shrimp.
  6. Drizzle ponzu sauce over the shrimp and rice.
  7. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, you can add panko breadcrumbs to the batter.
  • Make sure the oil is hot enough before frying for the best texture.
