  • Author: ushinzomr
  • Total Time: 30
  • Yield: 4 sandwiches 1x

Description

A classic Louisiana sandwich filled with crispy fried shrimp, lettuce, tomatoes, and a spicy remoulade sauce, served on a soft French baguette.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb medium shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornmeal
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying
  • 4 French baguette rolls
  • Lettuce, shredded
  • Tomatoes, sliced
  • Pickles, sliced
  • Spicy remoulade sauce

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, soak the shrimp in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes.
  2. In another bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, paprika, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper.
  3. Heat oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Remove shrimp from buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off, then dredge in the flour mixture, ensuring an even coating.
  5. Fry the shrimp in hot oil until golden brown and cooked through, about 3-4 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  6. To assemble, slice the baguette rolls and spread a generous amount of remoulade sauce on each side.
  7. Layer with lettuce, sliced tomatoes, pickles, and crispy fried shrimp.
  8. Serve immediately and enjoy your Shrimp Po Boy!
