Description

A classic Southern dish featuring shrimp, potatoes, corn, and sausage simmered in a flavorful broth.


Ingredients

  • 2 pounds large shrimp, deveined and shells removed
  • 1 pound small new potatoes
  • 4 ears of corn, cut into halves
  • 1 pound smoked sausage, sliced
  • 1/4 cup Old Bay seasoning
  • 1 lemon, halved
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Water (enough to fill a large pot)

Instructions

  1. Fill a large pot with water and bring to a boil.
  2. Add the Old Bay seasoning, lemon halves, and garlic to the boiling water.
  3. Add the potatoes and cook for about 10 minutes, or until they start to become tender.
  4. Add the sausage and corn, cooking for an additional 5 minutes.
  5. Finally, add the shrimp and cook for another 3-5 minutes, until the shrimp are pink and opaque.
  6. Remove the pot from heat and let it sit for a few minutes.
  7. Drain the water and serve the shrimp boil on a large platter or directly on a newspaper-covered table for a rustic feel.

Notes

  • Feel free to add other seafood like crab or mussels.
  • Adjust the level of Old Bay seasoning according to your taste.
  • For a spicier kick, add some cayenne pepper or hot sauce.
