Traditional New England clam bake featuring fresh clams, lobster, corn, and potatoes, all steamed together for a delicious coastal feast.


Ingredients

  • 4 quarts water
  • 1/2 cup sea salt
  • 12 medium clams, scrubbed
  • 2 lobsters, about 1 1/2 pounds each
  • 4 ears of corn, husked and cut in half
  • 6 small red potatoes, halved
  • 1 lemon, quartered
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • Fresh herbs (such as thyme or parsley) for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, bring 4 quarts of water and 1/2 cup of sea salt to a boil.
  2. Add the clams to the boiling water and cook for about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the lobsters to the pot, cover, and cook for an additional 10 minutes.
  4. Stir in the corn and potatoes, cover, and cook for another 5-7 minutes until the potatoes are tender.
  5. Remove the pot from heat and let it sit, covered, for 5 minutes.
  6. Carefully transfer everything to a large serving platter.
  7. Serve with lemon wedges and melted butter, garnished with fresh herbs.

Notes

  • Make sure to scrub the clams thoroughly to remove any sand.
  • You can customize your clam bake by adding other seafood such as shrimp or mussels.
  • Serve with crusty bread for a complete meal.
