These lemon bars are the perfect balance of sweet and tart, with a buttery crust and a creamy lemon filling.
Ingredients

- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon lemon zest
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9-inch baking pan.
- In a mixing bowl, combine melted butter, flour, and granulated sugar to form the crust. Press the mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking pan.
- Bake the crust for 20 minutes, or until lightly golden.
- In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, powdered sugar, lemon juice, lemon zest, baking powder, and salt until smooth.
- Pour the lemon filling over the baked crust and return to the oven.
- Bake for an additional 25-30 minutes, or until the filling is set and the edges are lightly golden.
- Allow to cool completely before dusting with powdered sugar and cutting into squares.
Notes
- For a more intense lemon flavor, add an extra tablespoon of lemon zest.
- Make sure to let the bars cool completely for easier cutting.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
