Ingredients

  • 1 can (15 oz) chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 1/2 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a food processor, combine chickpeas, onion, garlic, parsley, cilantro, cumin, coriander, baking powder, salt, and pepper. Pulse until a coarse mixture forms.
  2. Transfer the mixture to a bowl and mix in the flour until combined.
  3. Form the mixture into small balls or patties.
  4. In a frying pan, heat oil over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add the falafel balls.
  5. Fry for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels. Serve warm with tahini sauce or in pita bread.
