Ingredients

  • 2 racks of baby back ribs
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs for better flavor absorption.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil, brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
  4. Rub the spice mixture evenly over both sides of the ribs.
  5. Place the ribs on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil. Cover the ribs tightly with another piece of foil.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 2.5 to 3 hours, or until the ribs are tender and the meat pulls away from the bone easily.
  7. Remove the ribs from the oven and discard the top layer of foil. Brush the ribs generously with barbecue sauce.
  8. Increase the oven temperature to 400°F (200°C) and return the ribs to the oven for an additional 15-20 minutes, until the sauce is caramelized.
  9. Let the ribs rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving. Enjoy!

Notes

  • For extra flavor, marinate the ribs in the spice mixture overnight in the refrigerator.
  • Feel free to adjust the spice levels according to your taste preference.
  • You can also finish the ribs on a grill for a smoky flavor after baking.
