Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 pound ground pork
- 1/4 cup crushed ice
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- Hot dog buns
- Condiments (mustard, ketchup, onions, etc.)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef and ground pork.
- Add crushed ice, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Using a sausage stuffer or a piping bag, fill hot dog casings with the meat mixture, being careful to avoid air pockets. Tie off the ends of the casings.
- Bring a pot of water to a boil, then reduce to a simmer. Add the hot dogs and cook for about 20 minutes, or until fully cooked.
- Remove hot dogs from water and let them cool slightly.
- Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Grill or pan-fry the hot dogs for 3-5 minutes, or until they are browned and heated through.
- Serve hot dogs in buns with your favorite condiments.
Notes
- You can add other spices or herbs to customize the flavor of your hot dogs.
- If you don’t have casings, you can form the meat mixture into patties and cook them as burgers.
- For a smoky flavor, consider adding liquid smoke to the meat mixture.
