Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound ground pork
  • 1/4 cup crushed ice
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • Hot dog buns
  • Condiments (mustard, ketchup, onions, etc.)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef and ground pork.
  2. Add crushed ice, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper. Mix until well combined.
  3. Using a sausage stuffer or a piping bag, fill hot dog casings with the meat mixture, being careful to avoid air pockets. Tie off the ends of the casings.
  4. Bring a pot of water to a boil, then reduce to a simmer. Add the hot dogs and cook for about 20 minutes, or until fully cooked.
  5. Remove hot dogs from water and let them cool slightly.
  6. Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Grill or pan-fry the hot dogs for 3-5 minutes, or until they are browned and heated through.
  7. Serve hot dogs in buns with your favorite condiments.

Notes

  • You can add other spices or herbs to customize the flavor of your hot dogs.
  • If you don’t have casings, you can form the meat mixture into patties and cook them as burgers.
