Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour your cake pans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract and mix until combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined.
  6. If using food coloring, divide the batter into separate bowls and mix in the desired colors.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pans and smooth the tops.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow cakes to cool in pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
