Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour your cake pans.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in the vanilla extract and mix until combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined.
- If using food coloring, divide the batter into separate bowls and mix in the desired colors.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pans and smooth the tops.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow cakes to cool in pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
- Once cooled, frost with your choice of fondant or buttercream. Decorate with graduation-themed decorations.
