Description

This classic French toast recipe is easy to make and perfect for breakfast or brunch. It’s crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, topped with your favorite syrup or fruit.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 4 bread slices
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • to taste maple syrup

Instructions

  1. In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon until well combined.
  2. Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of butter.
  3. Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, allowing it to soak for a few seconds on each side.
  4. Place the soaked bread in the skillet and cook until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  5. Add more butter to the skillet as needed for additional batches.
  6. Serve warm with maple syrup or your favorite toppings.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, try adding a pinch of nutmeg to the egg mixture.
  • You can use any type of bread, but thicker slices work best for a hearty French toast.
