Ingredients
Scale
- 3 pounds flanken short ribs
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Chopped green onions for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
- In a large oven-safe pot or Dutch oven, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Season the short ribs with salt and pepper, then sear them in the pot until browned on all sides. Remove the ribs and set aside.
- In the same pot, add chopped onion and sauté until soft. Add minced garlic and ginger, cooking until fragrant.
- Pour in the beef broth, soy sauce, brown sugar, and apple cider vinegar, stirring to combine.
- Return the short ribs to the pot, making sure they’re submerged in the liquid.
- Cover the pot with a lid and transfer it to the preheated oven. Bake for 2.5 to 3 hours, or until the ribs are tender and easily pull apart with a fork.
- Remove from the oven and let rest for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped green onions.
Notes
- For extra flavor, marinate the ribs in the sauce for a few hours or overnight before cooking.
- Serve with mashed potatoes or over rice to soak up the delicious sauce.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
