  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. In a large oven-safe pot or Dutch oven, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Season the short ribs with salt and pepper, then sear them in the pot until browned on all sides. Remove the ribs and set aside.
  3. In the same pot, add chopped onion and sauté until soft. Add minced garlic and ginger, cooking until fragrant.
  4. Pour in the beef broth, soy sauce, brown sugar, and apple cider vinegar, stirring to combine.
  5. Return the short ribs to the pot, making sure they’re submerged in the liquid.
  6. Cover the pot with a lid and transfer it to the preheated oven. Bake for 2.5 to 3 hours, or until the ribs are tender and easily pull apart with a fork.
  7. Remove from the oven and let rest for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped green onions.
