Description

Delicious and crispy fish tacos topped with fresh ingredients and a zesty sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb white fish fillets (such as cod or tilapia)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 8 small corn or flour tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded cabbage
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • Fresh cilantro, for garnish
  • Lime wedges, for serving
  • Zesty sauce (mix sour cream, lime juice, and sriracha to taste)

Instructions

  1. In a shallow bowl, combine flour, paprika, garlic powder, cumin, salt, and pepper.
  2. Dip each fish fillet into the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off, then dredge in the flour mixture until well coated.
  3. In another bowl, place the panko breadcrumbs. Dip the floured fish into the breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
  4. In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Fry the fish for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  5. Warm the tortillas in a skillet or microwave.
  6. Assemble the tacos: place a piece of fried fish on each tortilla, top with shredded cabbage, avocado slices, and a drizzle of zesty sauce.
  7. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve with lime wedges.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, marinate the fish in lime juice and spices for 30 minutes before cooking.
  • Feel free to add your favorite toppings like diced tomatoes, jalapeños, or cheese.
