- 1 cup buttermilk

- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar

Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until smooth.
- Gradually stir in boiling water until well combined. The batter will be thin.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn them out onto wire racks to cool completely.
- In a separate bowl, beat heavy cream and powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.
- Once the cakes are completely cool, place one layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of whipped cream on top.
- Place the second cake layer on top and frost the top and sides with the remaining whipped cream.
- Garnish with fresh berries and chocolate shavings.
