Description
These crispy baked chicken wings are perfectly golden, seasoned to perfection, and incredibly addictively delicious. A healthier alternative to fried wings, they are baked to crispy perfection in the oven.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 pounds chicken wings
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Your favorite wing sauce (Buffalo, BBQ, etc.) for tossing
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a wire rack on top. This allows air to circulate and helps the wings get crispy.
- In a large bowl, combine the baking powder, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper.
- Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. This step is crucial for achieving crispiness.
- Add the wings to the bowl and drizzle with olive oil. Toss the wings in the seasoning mixture until they are evenly coated.
- Place the wings on the wire rack in a single layer, making sure they are not touching each other.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, flipping the wings halfway through, until they are golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the wings from the oven and toss them in your favorite wing sauce, if desired. Serve immediately.
Notes
- For extra crispy wings, you can broil them for an additional 2-3 minutes at the end of the baking time.
- Feel free to adjust the spices according to your taste preferences. Add more cayenne pepper for extra heat or omit it for milder wings.
- These wings can be made ahead of time and reheated in the oven to maintain their crispiness.
