Description

Enjoy the classic fair food right at home with this easy corn dog recipe! Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, these corn dogs are perfect for a snack or a fun meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • 6 hot dogs
  • Wooden skewers
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, mix buttermilk and egg. Add to dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  3. Insert wooden skewers into hot dogs, leaving enough space for handling.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot over medium heat.
  5. Dip each hot dog into the cornmeal batter, allowing excess to drip off.
  6. Carefully place the coated hot dogs into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
  7. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauces.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add cayenne pepper to the batter.
  • Make sure the oil is hot enough before frying to avoid soggy corn dogs.
  • You can use any type of sausage or hot dog for this recipe.
