Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup whole milk, warmed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 3 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened (for filling)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for icing)
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for icing)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for icing)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add melted butter, eggs, and salt to the yeast mixture. Gradually add flour until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  4. Once risen, roll out the dough on a floured surface into a rectangle.
  5. Spread softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon evenly on top.
  6. Roll the dough tightly into a log and cut into 12 equal pieces.
  7. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish and cover. Let rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake rolls for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  9. While baking, make the icing by whisking together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
  10. Once rolls are out of the oven, drizzle icing over the warm rolls and serve.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add chopped nuts or raisins to the filling.
  • You can prepare the dough the night before; let it rise in the fridge overnight.
