- 1/2 cup boiling water
- 1 cup whipped cream or whipped topping
- 1/2 cup diced fresh strawberries
- 1/2 cup diced mango
- 1/4 cup shredded coconut (optional)
- 1/4 cup chocolate shavings (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, salt, baking powder, and baking soda.
- Add buttermilk, vegetable oil, egg, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
- Stir in boiling water until well combined. The batter will be thin.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cooled, cut the cake into small squares or bite-sized pieces.
- Top each piece with whipped cream, diced strawberries, diced mango, shredded coconut, and chocolate shavings.
