Description

A fresh and zesty seafood dish, ceviche is made by marinating raw fish in citrus juices, resulting in a flavorful and refreshing appetizer or main course.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb Fresh fish fillets (Firm white fish like snapper or tilapia is recommended.)
  • 1/2 cup Lime juice (Freshly squeezed for best flavor.)
  • 1 small Red onion (Thinly sliced.)
  • 1 medium Tomato (Diced.)
  • 1/4 cup Fresh cilantro (Chopped.)
  • 1 small Jalapeño pepper (Seeded and minced (adjust to taste).)
  • to taste Salt
  • 1 Avocado (Diced, for garnish (optional).)
  • for serving Tortilla chips

Instructions

  1. Cut the fish into small, bite-sized pieces and place in a glass or ceramic bowl.
  2. Pour lime juice over the fish, ensuring all pieces are submerged. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes to 1 hour, or until the fish is opaque and ‘cooked’ by the acidity of the juice.
  3. Add the sliced red onion, diced tomato, chopped cilantro, minced jalapeño, and salt to the marinated fish. Stir gently to combine.
  4. Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed.
  5. Serve immediately, garnished with diced avocado and accompanied by tortilla chips.

Notes

  • For best results, use the freshest fish available.
  • Ceviche can be served as an appetizer or a main dish.
  • Feel free to add other ingredients like cucumber or mango for extra flavor and texture.
