Description
Juicy, flavorful chicken cooked on a grill with a can of beer for moisture and flavor.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 whole chicken (about 4–5 lbs)
- 1 can of beer (your choice)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons paprika
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- Fresh herbs (like rosemary or thyme) for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your grill to medium heat (about 350°F).
- Remove the giblets from the chicken and pat it dry with paper towels.
- In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
- Rub the spice mixture all over the chicken, making sure to coat it evenly.
- Open the can of beer and take a few sips to create space (or pour out a little beer).
- Insert the beer can into the cavity of the chicken, making sure it fits snugly.
- Stand the chicken upright on the grill, using the legs for support.
- Close the grill lid and cook for about 1 to 1.5 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F in the thickest part of the thigh.
- Carefully remove the chicken from the grill, allow it to rest for 10 minutes, then remove the beer can.
- Garnish with fresh herbs and serve.
