Description
Juicy BBQ burgers topped with caramelized onions and melted cheese, perfect for grilling season.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
- 1/2 cup BBQ sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 slices of cheese (cheddar or your choice)
- 4 hamburger buns
- 1 onion, sliced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Optional toppings: lettuce, tomato, pickles
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, BBQ sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
- Form the mixture into 4 equal patties, making a slight indentation in the center of each to prevent puffing during cooking.
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add sliced onions and cook until caramelized, about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Grill the patties for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness. In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheese on each patty to melt.
- Toast the hamburger buns on the grill for 1-2 minutes until golden.
- Assemble the burgers: place the patty on the bottom bun, top with caramelized onions, and add any other desired toppings. Place the top bun on and serve.
Notes
- For extra flavor, marinate the patties in BBQ sauce for 30 minutes before grilling.
- Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness: 160°F for medium.
- You can also cook these burgers on a stovetop skillet or broiler if grilling isn’t an option.
