Description

A classic, creamy banana pudding dessert that layers delicious vanilla pudding, fresh bananas, and crunchy vanilla wafers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups Milk
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 4 large Egg Yolks
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 1 tablespoon Vanilla Extract
  • 4 medium, sliced Bananas
  • 2 cups Vanilla Wafers
  • 2 cups, for topping Whipped Cream

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, whisk together the milk, sugar, cornstarch, and salt over medium heat until the mixture thickens and starts to bubble.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks. Slowly pour about 1 cup of the hot milk mixture into the egg yolks, whisking constantly to temper the eggs.
  3. Return the egg mixture to the saucepan and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until thickened. Remove from heat and stir in the butter and vanilla extract.
  4. Layer the bottom of a serving dish with vanilla wafers, followed by a layer of sliced bananas, and then pour half of the pudding mixture over the top.
  5. Repeat the layers, ending with the remaining pudding on top. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  6. Before serving, top with whipped cream and additional banana slices if desired.
