Ingredients
Scale
- 2 racks baby back ribs
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for heat)
- 1 cup barbecue sauce (your choice)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
- Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs for better flavor absorption.
- In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, brown sugar, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
- Rub the spice mixture all over the ribs, ensuring they are well coated.
- Place the ribs on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil and cover them tightly with another piece of foil.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 2.5 to 3 hours until the ribs are tender.
- Remove the ribs from the oven and increase the temperature to 400°F (200°C).
- Brush your favorite barbecue sauce generously over the ribs.
- Return the ribs to the oven uncovered and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the sauce is caramelized.
- Remove from the oven, let rest for a few minutes, then slice and serve.
Notes
- For an extra smoky flavor, consider adding liquid smoke to the spice rub.
- You can also finish the ribs on a grill for a few minutes after baking for added char.
- Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
