Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar (packed)
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1 teaspoon red food coloring
- 1 teaspoon blue food coloring
- 8 ounces cream cheese (softened)
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 cup fresh strawberries (sliced)
- 1 cup fresh blueberries
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a large baking sheet or line it with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Spread the cookie dough onto the prepared baking sheet in an even layer.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and the center is set. Let it cool completely on the baking sheet.
- In a separate bowl, beat together the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and milk until smooth and creamy.
- Once the cookie cake has cooled, spread the cream cheese frosting evenly over the top.
- To create the American flag design, use the red food coloring to create red stripes on the frosting, and place sliced strawberries and blueberries to form the flag pattern.
Notes
- Ensure that the cookie cake is completely cool before frosting to prevent melting.
- You can use store-bought frosting if you’re short on time.
