  • 1 teaspoon red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon blue food coloring
  • 8 ounces cream cheese (softened)
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries (sliced)
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a large baking sheet or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  6. Spread the cookie dough onto the prepared baking sheet in an even layer.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and the center is set. Let it cool completely on the baking sheet.
  8. In a separate bowl, beat together the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and milk until smooth and creamy.
  9. Once the cookie cake has cooled, spread the cream cheese frosting evenly over the top.
  10. To create the American flag design, use the red food coloring to create red stripes on the frosting, and place sliced strawberries and blueberries to form the flag pattern.
