This rich and moist chocolate cake is perfect for celebrating the best dad. With layers of decadent chocolate and a creamy frosting, it’s sure to be a hit!

- 1 and 3/4 cups (220g) all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup (65g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 cups (400g) granulated sugar
- 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup (240ml) whole milk
- 1/2 cup (120ml) vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup (240ml) boiling water
- 1 cup (240ml) heavy cream
- 8 oz (227g) semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
- 1/2 cup (60g) powdered sugar
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla to the dry ingredients. Mix until well combined.
- Gradually stir in boiling water until the batter is smooth.
- Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- For the frosting, heat the heavy cream in a saucepan until just simmering. Pour over the chopped chocolate and let sit for 5 minutes.
- Stir until smooth, then add powdered sugar and mix until well combined.
- Once the cakes are completely cooled, frost the top of one layer, place the second layer on top, and frost the top and sides of the cake.

Notes
- You can add chocolate shavings or sprinkles on top for decoration.
- This cake can be made a day in advance and stored in an airtight container.
