Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup dried chickpeas
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons flour (optional for binding)
  • Olive oil spray

Instructions

  1. Soak the dried chickpeas in water overnight. Drain and rinse before using.
  2. In a food processor, combine soaked chickpeas, onion, garlic, parsley, cilantro, cumin, coriander, baking powder, salt, and pepper. Pulse until a coarse mixture forms.
  3. If the mixture is too wet, add flour a little at a time until it holds together.
  4. Form the mixture into small balls or patties.
  5. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Spray the falafel with olive oil and place them in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
  7. Cook for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
  8. Serve hot with tahini sauce, pita, or in salads.

Notes

  • For best results, do not use canned chickpeas as they will make the falafel mushy.
  • Experiment with different herbs and spices to customize your falafel flavor.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
