- 1 cup dried chickpeas
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon coriander
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons flour (optional for binding)
- Olive oil spray
Instructions
- Soak the dried chickpeas in water overnight. Drain and rinse before using.
- In a food processor, combine soaked chickpeas, onion, garlic, parsley, cilantro, cumin, coriander, baking powder, salt, and pepper. Pulse until a coarse mixture forms.
- If the mixture is too wet, add flour a little at a time until it holds together.
- Form the mixture into small balls or patties.
- Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- Spray the falafel with olive oil and place them in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
- Cook for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
- Serve hot with tahini sauce, pita, or in salads.
Notes
- For best results, do not use canned chickpeas as they will make the falafel mushy.
- Experiment with different herbs and spices to customize your falafel flavor.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
