- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Cooking spray
- Optional toppings: powdered sugar, glaze, sprinkles
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Mix well.
- In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
- Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray.
- Using a donut cutter or two round cookie cutters, cut out donut shapes from the dough.
- Place the donuts in the air fryer basket, making sure to leave space between them for air circulation.
- Air fry the donuts at 350°F (175°C) for 5-6 minutes, until golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove the donuts from the air fryer and let them cool slightly.
- Optional: Dust with powdered sugar, dip in glaze, or sprinkle with toppings of your choice before serving.
Notes
- For a chocolate glaze, melt chocolate chips with a little butter and dip the cooled donuts.
- Store leftover donuts in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
