Description
This classic Dirt Cake recipe features layers of rich chocolate pudding, creamy whipped topping, and crushed Oreo cookies, topped with gummy worms for a fun, nostalgic dessert.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package (15.25 oz) Oreo cookies
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 3 cups milk
- 2 packages (3.9 oz each) instant chocolate pudding mix
- 12 oz whipped topping (Cool Whip), thawed
- Gummy worms (for garnish)
Instructions
- Crush the Oreo cookies in a food processor or place them in a zip-top bag and crush with a rolling pin until fine. Set aside about 1 cup of crushed cookies for topping.
- In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and cream cheese together until smooth. Gradually add the powdered sugar and mix until well combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together the milk and instant chocolate pudding mix until smooth and thickened, about 2 minutes.
- Fold the whipped topping into the cream cheese mixture until fully combined. Then, fold in the chocolate pudding mixture until smooth.
- In a trifle dish or a large bowl, layer half of the crushed Oreos, followed by half of the pudding mixture. Repeat with the remaining Oreos and pudding mixture.
- Top with reserved crushed Oreos and place gummy worms on top for decoration.
- Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
Notes
- For a more intense chocolate flavor, use chocolate sandwich cookies instead of regular Oreos.
- You can add layers of chocolate cake or brownie pieces for extra texture.
