- 1 whole chicken (about 4–5 lbs)
- 1 can of beer (your choice)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons paprika
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- Fresh herbs (optional for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (about 375°F).
- In a small bowl, mix together olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
- Pat the chicken dry with paper towels and rub the spice mixture all over the chicken, including under the skin where possible.
- Open the can of beer and drink or pour out half of it. You can also use a beer can holder if you have one.
- Insert the beer can into the cavity of the chicken, ensuring it stands upright.
- Place the chicken on the grill, standing up with the can inside. Close the grill lid.
- Cook the chicken for approximately 1 to 1.5 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F in the thickest part of the thigh.
- Once cooked, carefully remove the chicken from the grill using tongs. Let it rest for 10 minutes before carving.
- Garnish with fresh herbs if desired and serve.
