Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat the egg whites with cream of tartar and salt until soft peaks form.
  3. Gradually add the granulated sugar, continuing to beat until stiff peaks form.
  4. Sift the flour over the egg white mixture and gently fold in with a spatula until just combined.
  5. Add the vanilla extract and fold gently until fully incorporated.
  6. Pour the batter into an ungreased angel food cake pan.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the cake is golden brown and springs back when touched.
  8. Remove from the oven and invert the pan to cool completely before removing the cake.
