- 1 cup granulated sugar

Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the egg whites with cream of tartar and salt until soft peaks form.
- Gradually add the granulated sugar, continuing to beat until stiff peaks form.
- Sift the flour over the egg white mixture and gently fold in with a spatula until just combined.
- Add the vanilla extract and fold gently until fully incorporated.
- Pour the batter into an ungreased angel food cake pan.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the cake is golden brown and springs back when touched.
- Remove from the oven and invert the pan to cool completely before removing the cake.
